This scepter is inspired by the ancient Egyptian “Was scepter.” The original “Was scepter” has many powerful meanings yet it remains a very mysterious artifact. In a funeral context, it was used as a tool to provide the wellbeing of the diseased. In other context it is believed to be a symbol of power or dominion. It is even a remover of obstacles and is considered an “Amulet.” Hieroglyphs depict the “Was scepter” wielded by Pharaohs and Priests,” but also by the Egyptian God Anubis. There are various speculations about the meaning of the shape of the head and the fork at the bottom. It is believed that the head of the scepter resembles a “Set animal” or a “Knum.” The mystery remains, as we can only speculate the full meaning of the “Was scepter.”
This scepter is made of 1/2″ PVC. The head and the fork are both made of EVA foam. The foam is cut and dremeled to shape. The head receives a 2mm EVA foam cap on top, and is cut and shaped for an aesthetic fit. The eyes, mouth and stripes are engraved using a wood burner. The head and fork are then sealed, primed and sanded. They are typically primed once more and light sanded again. Next they are assembled to the PVC. The entire scepter is spraypainted gold. It gets a nice brown/black/gold oil wash. This created a nice ancient weathered look. It is finished with a shiny coat of lacquer.
